DIGITAL IMAGING 1/2
iOS.
With this assignment, we were only allowed to use our phone to take a picture yet to keep good composition in mind. With my iPhone 6, I took a picture of a boy waiting for his mother in the school office. I really like how these came out but I really wish that both pictures were framed the same and edited a little differently. Overall, I really enjoyed this project because it shows how you can still create a captivating image with something as simple as your phone.
texture.
This was our first group project and the assignment was to take a picture and with your group, have the same theme or texture in everyone's picture. So our group decided just to use the same texture. This is the first time I used photoshop in this way. Usually when I edit my images I don't do much to them but having to add a little bit more to the editing process was a fun challenge. I kept some of the texture on the model's shirt just so the model wasn't so copy and paste and added a little more depth to her. Overall, I like how the picture came out but I still think I could have done a little bit more to make the image just a little more exciting.
white on white.
For the white on white assignment, we were told to take a photo of a white subject on a white background. So to build my portfolio I wanted to work with still life but ended up incorporating a person... oops. I wanted to retell the story of the goose who laid golden eggs to represent greed. I knew what I wanted to do, but didn't have a clear vision with how I wanted it to look and that always gets me stuck while I'm trying to take the photos because I'll run out of ideas. I don't think my concept strongly shows but I made interesting images which I'm proud of. I'm also proud that the picture on the left wasn't originally part of the series but by accident made a fun photo (with the help of a fellow photographer) that went well with the other two.
blur.
With this assignment, we were to create an image with some aspect of blur in the photo. I wanted to show an aspect of my life through the photo. I chose to show how school and life, really puts a lot of stress on my life. I think I did well with creating the image but should have used a background other than a white backdrop, like a classrom or my bedroom. I believe it would have made the image more compelling and believable. I also wanted to show the asspect that, the classroom has developed and grown with technology. I usually only bring my laptop to school and occasionally a pen, just in case.
gender identity.
With this assignment we were supposed to show how gender identity affects our society. I wanted to show that people should be able to be themselves no matter what they identify as. I took close ups of people's eyes to show that no matter what someone is wearing or how they talk, its their choice in what they identify as. And I also played into the saying "the eyes are a window to your soul"
photojournalism.
With this photojournalism assignment, I wanted to show how someone in my family is living with diabetes. To make the photo stronger, I should have had my father in the picture or showed him doing his insulin. This type of photography isn't really my strong suite but I want to try again and build on it.
